Blackpool Confident Game Will Go Ahead Fri 01st Jan 2010 12:17
Blackpool say they are confident Saturday's third round FA Cup tie against Town will go ahead. As of this morning the pitch was considered playable with referee Eddie Ilderton not planning a pitch inspection.
Groundsman Stan Raby covered the surface overnight and says the pitch is currently fine: "We covered the pitch late afternoon and early evening on New Year's Eve.
"Having looked under the covers this morning, I can confirm the pitch is playable. There is a stiff area in front of the South Stand, however, given the forecast for Saturday morning, I doubt this will be a problem.
"We have spoken to the match referee, the FA and officials from Ipswich Town and we are all confident the game will take place as scheduled."

The weather in the last two days has been okay - much milder with no snow, rain or sleet. Plus, both today and yesterday has been cold but with plenty of sun. The pitch isn't coming from a good starting point, given that it remained uncovered for so long... a disgraceful situation given that Fleetwood Town 10 miles north have played their home games.
Charlie Adam and Brett Ormerod have both had viruses... interesting? Not that I would say that the miraculous appearance of covers coincides with the recovery of both players......
