Keane Leaves Town
Keane Leaves Town
Thursday, 6th Jan 2011 22:52

TWTD understands that Town manager Roy Keane has parted company with the club. The Blues boss has been under pressure with Town having dropped to 19th in the Championship despite a promising start to the season which saw them hit second.

Keane, whose contract was due to end in June, joined the Blues in April 2009 after Jim Magilton’s sacking and despite winning his first two games in charge at the end of the 2008/09 season never threatened to repeat his success at Sunderland.

The end looked to have been on the cards for some weeks now with Marcus Evans apparently unwilling to commit funds for transfers and Keane having exchanged angry words and gestures with fans after Monday’s 1-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.

Earlier today, Paddy Power stopped betting on the identity of Keane’s likely successor with former Wigan, Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby boss Paul Jewell’s odds having been cut from 20/1 to 6/5.

Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton boss Alan Curbishley have both previously been linked with the Blues.

BlueBrittania, Phil's too sensible to base this on the message board.

Your almost certainly right Bontcho, I guess this means the replacement is lined up because otherwise this move is desperate at best, suicidal at worst. Still think he would have done well for us in the end, think he will if he gets a chance somewhere else but at times I think it was wrong club wrong time if this is indeed the end.

Nothing on Sky other than Burnley approaching Norwich for Lambert!! Perhaps thats where he is off to!!

Would be a surprise if tonight as Keane was at the emirates last night.

If its true then we need to get behind the new man straight away.

Perhaps thats why Colback has gone back too.

Well, if it is true, and I have no reason to think it isn't, at least it will have the effect of shutting up the anti-Keane brigade.

I trust they will now be very very happy with this outcome.

Or at least until the new manager has been in position for six weeks or so and hasn't managed to sign 20 new players or get us into the play-offs in that time!

This will be one of those years which will prove the adage: Be Careful What You Wish For.
We`ve become a sacking club, with five managers in a decade, we`ve caught the modern football disease, and just maybe we now deserve to go down.

Keano if you do happen to take at look on here, many thanks for all you attempted here and although it never worked out for you, you never deserved some of the personal treatment you had to take from certain "supporters" either.

Without sounding like a complete and utter troll, was just at the pub with a few mates, and one was on the way from London today and said he saw Curbs on a Train from Liverpool Street, no word of a lie. We joked he was coming for Keanes job, but i'm not laughing now! Please someone tell me he has relatives in suffolk and isn't swinging past Portman Road!

But come on Ipswich, lets get the right man on board, improve the squad in january and push up the table. COYB.
