Sito to Face U's
Mon 01st Aug 2005 10:12

Spanish trialist Sito will once again be involved for Town when they face Colchester United at Layer Road on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm). The former Racing Club de Ferrol full-back impressed Joe Royle during the first half of Friday's friendly with Atlético Madrid.

The Blues are also hoping to look at one or two other players in the weeks ahead of the closure of the transfer window at the end of August, with Royle hoping to hear from another player today, probably the French central defender mentioned last week.

Town may have more trialists with a Slovenian and a Hungarian possibly on their way. Despite failing to land Arsenal's Justin Hoyte, Royle could still bring in a Premiership defender on a season-long loan.

Meanwhile, Dean Bowditch is out of Tuesday's game due to a foot injury, while Nicky Forster may be rested. The former Reading man is fit but, with Bowditch on the sidelines for around a week, may not want to risk the 31-year-old picking up an injury ahead of Saturday's opening league game at home to Cardiff.

Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor both suffered knocks in Friday's game and may also miss out on the trip to Colchester. De Vos (ankle) and Naylor (neck) are both likely to be fit for the Cardiff game.

Tuesday's match is a testimonial for ex-Town coach Brian Owen who has been with Colchester in various roles since 1993.

Colchester may have old boy Lomana Lua Lua in their ranks. Portsmouth have given the Democratic Republic of Congo international permission to play but an injury may force him to miss the chance to return to Layer Road where he started his career.

Elsewhere, reported Town target Clive Clarke has left Stoke to join West Ham for £275,000.
