Rather a lot of long balls again. Interestingly Sears goal came from passing strung together along the floor. Good to see the crowd getting much more involved in the second half.

A good job done against a side with some quality players. Town were handed a lifeline early on as a clear shot on goal hit the woodwork and bounced out. Having said that Ipswich's defence is forming up well and closing down some potentially lethal attacks.

The midfield still seemed a little non-happening and maybe a few more long-balls than some of us would want to see, although some quality players and dynamic attacks down the wings. Ryan Fraser's injury saw David McGoldrick on to replace him. Sears later proving to be an excellent winger and slicing a goal from nowhere, only to be added to David McGoldrick. Players like Jonas Knudsen stood out well for me, some excellent all round play on both ends of the pitch. Clearly another excellent signing. Looking forward to Pitman getting on the score sheet. His goal record makes for exciting competition up front. No idea why Murphy was taken off at half-time though.

Ipswich held out well, and poached 2 good goals to get the first clean sheet of the season. I can see there is a lot more to come from the players, and there is a good reason to feel excited about the season ahead.

Finally with wifi after stopping down for the game, now headed North to home... A game of two halves would be a good way to sum it up, with the injuries to Murphy and Fraser possibly unwittingly improving our line up in the 2nd 45. The pitch seemed very good, but perhaps after the rain overwatered and hard to turn quickly on without slipping.

The first half we looked a bit ragged with not much passing, plenty of hoofball which was gobbled up by a large Burnley defence. We were lucky to go in at 0-0 at half time, but the team talk and/or arrival of Pitman seemed to spur a new found belief and passages of passing football.

The goals were both at the other end from the SBR so a tad hard to give much detail other than the balls hitting the net. Didz looked back towards his best, hold up play superb, the ability to shield the ball and always have that extra yard to keep the ball in his possession. In Knudsen we have unearthed another LB success, although his attempts at normal throw ins perhaps need some tweaking. The midfield, so bypassed in the first half, seemed a little one dimensional with Douglas seemingly a similar player to Scuse but perhaps less mobile. Ainsley Maitland Niles really impressed, and although clearly not his natural game, was getting stuck in and some chasing back earning him a standing ovation, he also seems to be able to deliver some splendidly dangerous corners.

At the back, generally solid and although it was one of Tommy Smiths better games, there was a lot of covering done by Chambers, maybe not always needing to actually get the ball, but often in the centre back positions. A leader on the pitch, I noted his encouragement for all but particularly the younger lads - very few can have done more to bring the players closer to the fans that our skipper.

A cracking second half atmosphere too, which perhaps spurred the players on, not the other way around as Stuart Watson claims! Bart did not have a brilliant game, but kept a clean sheet and at the end pulled off one marvellous point blank save which showed he is, and should be our number 1 this season.
