Thought we defended well as a team, Murphy looked a threat going forward, he just didn't take his chances

A counter attacking performance from us where by MK Dons had the lions share of possession but failed to really create any chances until the 75th minute. There on in our defence and keeper stood firm, repelling wave after wave of attack in what can only be described as a siege on our goal.

Murphy and Sears both went through and were wrongly deemed off side. The same duo went through onside once again each and fluffed their lines. Murphy also had a great chance which he failed to convert.

We looked far stronger than them at the back and when we went forward always looked relatively threatening. BUT as has been the case so often during McCarthy's reign we have had a solid defence and a potent attack but lost the battle for middle earth against teams who retain the ball better than us in the engine room. Bear with me on the sandwich analogy but its akin to having the most expensive bread but then skimped on the filling in the middle.

To be fair McCarthy has worked wonders with such a small budget and I can see how Douglas and Skuse play their part in defending as a unit. But as so many have alluded to on this forum, just a bit more technical guile is required in that department to elevate us from top 6 challengers to a top 2 promotion winning outfit. The return to fitness of Fraser, Bishop and Bru will help this facet of our game I'm sure.

Missed opportunities to win easily against poor opposition. We won't get so many clear goal scoring chances against the top teams.

Solid Professional performance against mediocre opposition. Should have 3 or 4.

made very hard work against poor side and even nearly let them in in last quarter. Murphy was poor and should have scored from number of chances he had. Sears off side too often so lucky we had Pitman and great cross from captain. AMN could have been sent off and was lucky with ref!

A very welcome 3 points away from home. We should have been at least 3 up by half time and that would have saved us from the mauling in the second half. Defense was solid, Gerken excellent but why oh why can we get overrun in the second half by a poor side? The problem lies in midfield. Skuse and Douglas 'do a job' for the side (Skuse was very good again) but we do not have the players to add the guile and skill to push forward. AMN is very promising but lightweight for this division. MK's defense was there for the taking if Sears had been playing off Murphy up front. Where is the Magilton or Holland of old? Having said that, grinding out a win away from home is always a good sign. By the way, was it me, or was that stadium totally soulless?

good solid performance, failure to take good chances, particularly Murphy, made for a tricky last 15mins but defence stayed solid. Another 3pts away from home and we did at least create plenty of chances, typical McCarthy performance ? thought Skuse once again had an excellent game, Douglas also played his part.Same again against Fulham.
