A gritty determined performance shame Tunnicliffe fluffed that 4 chance he looks twice the player Lee Martin did!
A good result against a strong and thuggish Millwall.

We look a very solid side. Smith and Chambers were magnificent. Hewitt and Cresswell are excellent as well. McGoldrick was great but Skuse was a class above everyone. What a signing he looks. We deserved the win. 3-0 was flattering but how lovely to get a bit of luck in the 6 yard box.

Hard working performance from the boys.Defence solid as a rock like the end of last season.
Skuse very tidy and calm in midfield.McGoldrick quality on the ball,i think if he had Taylor playing with him he'd be even better.
Millwall camw to frustrate but we were patient and it paid off.7/10

Ultimately a good result against a fairly average team. Good to see a continuity of line up and commitment from last season. Skuse looks a good addition; a tidy, competitive player. Defensively we looked solid although Millwall should have scored at the start of the second half and we were fortunate with the own goals. Still who cares, you make your own luck. Feel much more confident about this season although the standard of the league may be higher than last year and fully expect the three relegated clubs to be competing unlike last years rubbish.

Solid performance against a poor Millwall side who will struggle this season on the evidence of today. Apart from the first ten to fifteen minutes of the second half we had the upper hand and deserved the win. Skuse looks a very good buy and he and Hyam work well together in central midfield. Cresswells return illustrated just how important he is to the side. The only downside, for me at least, was the failure of our strikers to find the net again.

Thought the team tried hard, McGoldrick especially although he needs some support - I felt a little sorry for him. Pleased with Hewitt, he will only get better. Murphy didn't do enough for me, must play Taylor once fit. Would like to see Wordsworth play in midfield when he has recovered from injury as I feel he can create more from midfield. Overall not bad, looks promising.

...ok a bit of perspective ....first home game of the season...lots of nerves and slightly less anticipation as perhaps there would have been if we had had two better results in previous matches....pre twtd talk of a 20000 crowd was probably media hype to encourage people to go as 17200 is a very poor start esp seeing as it was a grade c game and allegedly one of the cheaper ones ...and also a lower attendance than last season.....a day that was supposed to be full of excitement as it was also celebrating Sir Bobby Robson day started off well with a great round of applause but eventually petered out to a very quiet crowd left wondering what they had just witnessed in a very mediocre first half.hewitt and Skuse were the stand out performers while the rest of the back four didn't need to impress such was the poor ability of a woeful millwall side....they however did very well what they had to do. Tabb looked off the pace and will be disappointed especially after such a great performance against reading .....I don't think I am alone in already thinking that Mcgoldrick and murphy are too similar..and currently would prefer either one with Taylor rather than together.....second half bit more fight and endeavour that saw town deservedly create their own luck and all will take goals however they are scored.....end of the day a much needed result esp against a side that will struggle and If we have aspirations of our own must beat. We did what we needed to do...bigger opposition we might have struggled but today we weren't against them so didn't need to perform at that higher level....it gives us time to keep gelling together and moving forward..it wasn't the best but it was far from some of the dross that was served up at the beginning of last season...so we remain positive and in mick we still trust COYB

The first home game of the season for me,overall I thought Town were solid at the back apart from a couple of mistakes from Hewitt but he's learning his trade so that's to be expected, Skuse was very cool on the ball and looks a very good player. Murphy huffed and puffed but had a poor game,
Smiths header was a beauty. Millwall were pants, three easy points in the end.

Poor first half, neither team playing through midfield, too much huff and puff, with long ball being the order of the day, but to be fair we should have gone ahead when Chambers planted a header over the bar and the lively McGoldrick narrowly missed.
The second period saw Town take the lead when Cresswell refused to give up a lost cause and rifle a cross in that was turned into the net off a Millwall player. An excellent delivery from a freekick by Anderson was met with the firm head of Smith. Millwall came close on a couple of occasions as the excellent Cresswell began to tire, but Town wrapped up the game when either Anderson with a ground header, or another OG sealed the points. Stand out players: McGoldrick, Skuse, Cresswell, Hewitt, Tunnicliffe looked good when he came on.
Scuse seems to do the same work that Hyam did, perhaps it is time for Luke to do the box to box work that Wark/Holland did in the past leaving Scuse to protect the defence?

Just arrived back in Hampshire, happy I went, and even happier we got the 3 points! Stand out Man had to be Skuse, I thought the whole team performed well, Murphy a bit quiet! point to improve on next week for me would be trying to limit the long ball down the right hand side, we are very good at passing the ball through the mid field, I would love to see more of that! GREAT START TO HOME FIXTURES!
