Can we turn it round on Tuesday ? Possibly last year a game like this would have been lost so maybe we are more resilient. Now we have to hope for a run of good results and move up the table and be more consistent. Still early days and we are still in the wrong half of the table.

Just back to home after an afternoon of great interest, moments of entertainment and quality, and so much to discuss. In the end a great 3 points, and perhaps, just perhaps a platform to build on.

The threatened rain did not materialise and it was quite mild heading up to the ground, one London Pride to the good.

It was very very quiet around the ground, and this continued in the North Stand bars, and the very low attendance was confirmed early in the second half. Less than 15,000 town fans is just so concerning. And is an indictment of the prices and the erosion of quality over the last five years. Its just not been entertaining has it? Upside being it was very very quick to get a high quality Ghost Ship in at the bar.

But from these low ebbs, these troughs in the graph, maybe fortunes can change, maybe a new direction can be forged. After what was one of the most turgid first half displays from Town, against a good on paper but frankly unmotivated Boro side, Town forged a superb goal.

Then in the second the crowd just seemed to collectively sense how low we were sinking and just started singing and clapping and the team just seemed to respond. It was worth the 32.50 just to be part of this zeitgeist, this change in atmosphere, the cobbold were clapping for fecks sake?!

So back to the first half, Town were woeful, Boro better and they had this bizarre thing called an 'overlap' and this new concept called 'width'. We huffed and puffed. And rallied for say 5 minutes. But Chambers was failing to offer any attacking outlet, indeed he was through for a perfect cross and skied it. Tunnicliffe, Berra and McGoldrick seemed the only ones up for it, intent on making a difference. I do think Hyam was trying and overall in the end had a good game, despite missing a sitter in a silky move in the improved second half to come. Skuse continued in the vein we have seen, and epitomised his weaknesses with a woeful wasted longer pass to the onrushing Cresswell.

Then came the change; McGoldrick just got the ball made space and blasted it, Wunder strike. Absolutely proving that a good goalscorer is essential - and maybe that we have found one. Yes he's not fast, but his second finish showed that he is the rounded striker we need.

Thank god we went in at half time level. And then Mick made the biggest change, the appalling Nouble was removed - even Mick agreed on BBC Suffolk that Frank did not take his chance, and they would need to go back and work with him. Its going to take a miracle to get Frank going, I really hope TC and Mick succeed. But I'm pleased with Mick's honesty on the subject. And the rejuvenated Murphy may not have changed the game had he not been motivated by being left out. He was winning everything and just bringing player after player into the game. McGoldrick, Tunnicliffe, Hyam all thrived with Murphs ability to lay it off and make space.

The second goal from our 'failing to attack' new right full back Chambo, was very good too. Superb interplay on the left and a killer cross from Tunnicliffe. Woeful defending from Boro yes. but we'd moved the ball quickly on the floor and stretched Boro - YES WE STRETCHED A TEAM. The turgid long ball of the first half was a distant memory.

We continued to grow into the game. The only disappointment was Anderson's ability again to take his chance, plenty of space now and in a confident team. But he was error strewn. Mick Mills sighted on the radio how poor he was and the general lack of goals from midfield - to which Hyam emphasised with a poor finish from a lovely move involving McGoldrick, Tunnicliffe and Murphy initially.

So a Saturday night to savour, a much improved second half and really exciting performances from McGoldrick, Tunicliffe and Murphy, plus solid displays from Gerken, Berra, and Hyam. Not sure Smith is on his best form at the moment. And again I agree with Mick Mills it is a real shame Hewitt has not made the right back his own, so maintaining the Chambo/Smith center back partnership.

Lets get 3 points on Saturday. Get the right back issue resolved, and get a loan winger in and a loan striker to up the quality and competition.

For those who went today the 'sub 15k crew' hats off to you for that support, yes most were only clapping, but a think it lifted the team, and reminded one why we go to live sport in the first place.

decent result, played well but must not get too carried away ,Boro didnt really play that well.We got off to a slow start and when we conceded the goal i feared the worst. However, we came to life and Boro didnt really look that threatening for the most part. Our defence were up to the job, Midfield at last seemed to be doing theirs,The equaliser was only a matter of time.I was disapointed with Nouble's performance ,i really thought he would come good, but he dosnt seem live up to it .It really changed things when Murphy came in ,he worked very hard and with Mc Goldrick as partner ,and midfield playing well, Boro were struggling. Was about to say that Boro never had Gerkin in a pickle, but changed my mind !, WELL DONE LADS, WELL DONE MICK ,CONGRATULATIONS to Mc Goldrick on his double The same effort against Yeovil should see another 3 points secured, but mustnt take em for granted . The Murphy for Nouble switch changed the game, the former has to start Tuesday.
And how about giving Hewitt a run out wide right? Neither Anderson nor Edwards brought much to the game.
Very impressed with Berra, I can see why Mick & TC brought him to the club.

I have to admit, the first 30 minutes, I did think that we were going to lose, but at half time when Murphy came on for Nouble was a brilliant change by Mick and then Paul Anderson coming off aswell was good. McGoldrick man of the match, although Skuse was very impressive yet again. COYB

Agree with all the above comments, an honest refection of the game. I've been going to watch the town for the last 15 years on and off, and finally bit the bullet and purchased a season ticket last year and renewed for this season. Saturday was the loudest I've experienced from the supporters, why are town fans so quite? lets hope the bloke with the drum turns up on Tuesday does his magic and whips the crowd into the frenzy again. it really does have an impact on the players .
