On the train heading back North.....I would describe the performance as abject. We played like we were the away team and it could almost be David McGoldrick versus Leicester.....

Gerken - Not good enougb for this level, its not his fault but what has Loach done worse than him, kicking terrible, wrong decision making for second goal.

Mings - Young, but seriousy needs confidence to play at this level.

Berra - Not the worst player but does he add much to the side?

Smith - Looked out of sorts, perhaps the New Zealand travelling took its toll.

Chambers - NOT a right back, and missed from his sentral defensive post.

Anderson - Does not set the place alight, but quite honestly what justified taking him off yet again?

Skuse - Quiet, almost non-existant

Tunnicliffe - One good burst in the box second half and probably a good signing to make permanent, however would have been better wide.

Tabb - Some intelligent football in the first half, but faded in the second along with the team.

McGoldrick - One man strike force, intelligent and clever but lacking support, sad when you have to drop your main attacking threat into midfield when chasing the game.

Murphy - Huffs and puffs, but today was not at the races. Hold up play not the best and once again struggled to win anything in the air with main jumps too early.

Subs:
Nouble - ran about - not a lot else to add
Taylor - looked inventive in flashes, would like to see him in a 3-5-2 played in the Eric Gates role behind two strikers.
Hunt - Should have come on earlier and certainly not at left back!

Manager - I think Mick has done a great job stabilising the club but he may not be the man to take us forward, seems to not fancy altering the 4-4-2 even when being overrun. Not saying we are not grateful for what he achieved but is it time to think about a change of emphasis.

Think Hunts class showed in the few mins he was on - his crossing, eye for goal and pass picking are exactly what we miss on the wing... Can't blame skuse and Tunicliffe today they had no support from the wide men who were awful. Hunt on the left in front of cressie would add real threat and Taylor on the right...

Played ok first half but totally allowed Leicester off the hook.

Tabb was awful, Skuse couldn't hit a pass forward if his life depended on it. We have absolutely no creativity going forward, which is why McGoldrick excels in a 4-3-3 as he is the only player who attacks.

After going to Blackpool this was a big let down. We just can't seem to do it against the big boys. And by the way Leicester were nothing special.

1. It was a poor performance in front of a bigger crowd and form team - how long before Ipswich can provide an impressive home display to win back fans on these occasions?

2. Leicester were technically superior, had better players and passed well - but the gap between the teams was not vast. Had Ipswich been set-up differently this was winnable. It again shows the tightness of this league.

3. We got overrun in the centre of the park - Hyam would have actually faired better in this game, perhaps a 4-3-3 with Luke alongside Skuse and Tunnicliffe, with Taylor in a front 3 with McGoldrick and Murphy.

4. Losing the battle in the centre meant we needed the outlets of Tabb and Anderson out wide. Both were poor. Anderson especially so, how long before this guy is dropped? Taylor should have started.

5. This was the most telling example of chambers not working at right back; he was unable to provide an attacking outlet, and Murphy desperately needed this in the final 20 mins. Chambo also at fault for 2nd goal. We have to get a right back in or give Hewitt a chance. A right back needs to be more agile on the ball.

6. When we went the goal up we reverted into a defensive mode, rather than keeping up the pressure, making Leicester think they might lose. And then the hoofing started again.

7. The long ball and lack of passing was very apparent. I think the Championship is changing, you need shape, pace and a passing system - or you are just gifting the opposition possession. Smith and Chambers were chief culprits, but without dynamic movement who do they pass to? When we did pass the ball in the last half an hour we got results. I think Skuse is not providing flank shifting passing and this is a problem.

8. McGoldrick is looking a class apart at the moment, it must be frustrating for him with the shape around him. He is total class. Perhaps yesterday only mcgoldrick, Berra and Taylor looked like high quality players on the ball.

9. Taylor showed in glimpses the difference he can make, he could be a great foil for McGoldrick. But alas I think he picked up a shoulder injury early on and this hampered his appearance. Nouble reverted to type yet again, with poor touch and control.

10. Mings has some raw talent and his 2 forward runs were sublime; but he was very tested by Leicester and the return of cresswell is needed.

Width and pace was the difference between the two sides, as Leicester's full back and wing were in complete charge on both sides of the pitch. And probably confidence - I don't know if the pitch was slippery but there seemed to be a good deal of nervousness and hesitation from Town, they looked unable to turn quickly (or do anything else quickly, for that matter) and played very narrow. We looked as if we had four centre halves at the back, which is fair enough considering there were three. But a real lack of adventure all round.

McGoldrick was clearly the best player in the team, possibly on the pitch, and seemed to have covered every part of the pitch after his switch into midfield in the 2nd half.

I thought that after the early goal went in, Ipswich had absolutely no urgency about them and were playing like a team in the lead. Big mistake against a team as good as this, they should have pressed for more. After the equaliser there was a zip to Town's play and some clever movement. The substitutions helped that too, I thought Taylor in particular moved well up front. But this should have been happening in the first half, as Leicester had nothing other than their wide men.

Not a great performance, far more frustrating as Leicester weren't great either and Town did absolutely nothing on the back of the early goal. Hunt and Taylor should have been on much much earlier in my mind, probably should have started in place of Tabb and Murphy.
