Petkov Impressing Jim - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has confirmed that Bulgarian international Ivaylo Petkov spent the early part of the week on trial at Portman Road. The Town manager says the 30-year-old has impressed him in training and he now wants to see him in game action.

Magilton told the club site: "The lad had 60-odd caps behind him for Bulgaria, so he has some pedigree and he did well when he was with us.

"We're hoping to arrange a game so we can see him in a match situation. You can only tell so much in training and we would want to see him play before we consider anything else.

"He can play left-back or on the left side of central defence and has certainly done enough for a second look."

Town's interest in the former Fenerbahçe and Ankaragücü first broke in the Scottish press yesterday after a short unsuccessful spell on trial at Celtic.
