Currie Targeted? - Ipswich Town News

Sunday's tabloids report that Coventry City are targeting Darren Currie to replace departed Gary McSheffrey. The Sky Blues brought in £4 million from the sale of the winger to Birmingham last week. Meanwhile, Town are being linked with most of the Crystal Palace squad.

Currie, 31, has a less than a year left on his Town contract and the Blues may be willing to sell the £250,000 recruit from Brighton for the right fee. Reports of a bid from Leeds earlier in the summer were incorrect, with the Whites actually trailing Ian Westlake.

Elsewhere, Blues boss Jim Magilton is linked with three Crystal Palace players in addition to Jon Macken. Last week Eagles boss Peter Taylor turned down a loan bid for the former Manchester City striker.

Now a rather unlikely report claims that Magilton is also keen on midfielder Michael Hughes, striker Dougie Freedman and left-back Gary Borrowdale.
