Town Look for Sky Win - Ipswich Town News

Town go into tonight's game at QPR still looking for their first win of the season (KO 7.45pm, Sky Sports One). The Blues are without Nicky Forster and Jaime Peters but can call on Gavin Williams, Alan Lee, Simon Walton and Mark Noble, the quartet having missed the Carling Cup game at Peterborough.

Walton and Noble were ineligible for the Carling Cup under the terms of their loans, while Lee (hip) and Williams (toe) were rested. Forster picked up a groin injury at London Road, while Peters again misses out having picked up a knock against Hull last week.

The loanees are likely to come back into the middle of midfield with Alex Bruce set to switch to right-back having played in midfield against the Posh.

The right midfield berth could go to Gavin Williams with Matt Richards on the left, although new signing Martin Brittain and Danny Haynes may hope to have done enough at Peterborough to win themselves places in the starting line-up. Darren Currie looks likely to be on the bench at best after a poor performance against the Posh.

Up front, Billy Clarke could get the call after a man of the match display and his first senior goal after coming off the bench at Peterborough, however, Dean Bowditch also impressed and may get the nod alongside Alan Lee.

Keeper Shane Supple will have a fitness test on his sprained wrist to check whether he is fit enough to take his place on the bench, Lewis Price continuing his run as first choice. If the Irishman fails to make it, then the Blues could decide to name five outfield subs rather than including goalkeeper-coach Andy Rhodes, who is registered as a player in case of emergencies. Fabian Wilnis and Richard Naylor have previously been suggested as possible crisis keepers.

QPR boss Gary Waddock will give fitness tests to Martin Rowlands (calf), Gareth Ainsworth (hamstring) and Nick Ward (calf) later today, while Simon Royce (groin), Marc Nygaard (back) and Dominic Shimmin (hamstring) are all out long-term.

Sky coverage means that Town fans around the world get the opportunity to watch the Blues in action. US details can be found here, while Australian fans can watch delayed coverage on Fox Sports One. If you know where the game is viewable outside the UK, post the details on the TWTD Message Board.

Tonight's referee is Lee Mason who replaces Alan Wiley who was originally pencilled in to take control of the game. Wiley has taken over from Dermot Gallagher - Town's referee last Saturday - who has been dropped from the Premiership fixture between Liverpool and West Ham after failing to red card Ben Thatcher for his horror challenge on Pedro Mendes.

Lancastrian Mason, who himself is taking control of Premiership games this season, has shown 11 yellow cards and one red in his three games so far this season. His last Town game was the 1-0 defeat at Luton in April.
