Forster Set for Hull - Ipswich Town News

Striker Nicky Forster looks set to join Hull City on what promises to be a busy last day of the transfer window for Town. The Blues are also looking to bring in strikers, with Crystal Palace's Jon Macken and Bournemouth's James Hayter linked.

Town have agreed a fee reported to be £250,000 with Hull for 32-year-old frontman who was last night in talks with Tigers manager Phil Parkinson, who he played alongside at Reading. Forster is expected to sign a two-year deal.

Boss Jim Magilton is hoping to land Crystal Palace striker Jon Macken, probably on loan, with the Eagles apparently now willing to allow him to leave after knocking back Town's initial advances earlier in the month.

Magilton has confirmed rumours on the TWTD Message Board yesterday that he is interested in Bournemouth striker James Hayter: "James Hayter is one of those players we have had watched and who we like but as yet no bid has been made. We are pursuing a number of options but it is possible we may bid for James before the deadline.”

Town have also been watching Bohemians frontman Stephen Ward but says that the Irish U21 international is more of a long-term target with his club apparently keen to keep him. Bohemians and manager Gareth Farrelly went their separate ways earlier in the week and it remains to be seen whether this might change the situation.

If Macken signs, it looks unlikely that the Blues would continue to chase Coventry's Dele Adebola. According to reports this morning, Matt Richards was the Sky Blues' target in the swap deal reported yesterday and not Darren Currie.

The Blues continue to wait on Sylvain Legwinski signing his contract but expect the Frenchman to put pen to paper on his one-year contract before the end of the day.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old midfielder Ross Coombes has joined the club on trial from Devon League side Ivybridge Town.
