No Deal for Mulryne - Ipswich Town News

Former Norwich City midfielder Phil Mulryne will not be offered a deal by the Blues despite featuring in two recent reserve matches and Richard Naylor's testimonial. Mulryne has been training with Town for a few weeks but boss Jim Magilton is not considering him as a possible signing.

The Town manager said: "We are simply helping Phil out. After he left Cardiff he needed a base, somewhere to train and get himself fit as he looked to find a new club.

"Phil and I go back a long way and he also knows Alan Lee well from their time together at Ninian Park, so it made sense for him to come here.

"He's a good lad and a good player, and we're pleased to help him out. But Phil knows the score, that there is nothing doing here."

Dutch trialist Joey Van Den Berg has ended his trial with the Blues after suffering an injury but could be asked to return again at a later date. The 20-year-old centre-half is unattached and available to sign outside the transfer window having been released by Heerenveen.
