Fab a Doubt - Ipswich Town News

Full-back Fabian Wilnis is a doubt ahead of Saturday's home game with Southampton. The Dutchman picked up a thigh strain in training and was unable to play in Richard Naylor's testimonial last weekend.

Irish frontman Billy Clarke also missed that game but is expected to be fit to face George Burley's side.

Winger Jaime Peters was sidelined for Town's last two games due to a knock and also missed a Canada U20 call last weekend, but may be OK for inclusion against the Saints.

Magilton could give debuts to new signings Sylvain Legwinski and Jon Macken. The Town manager says that if Macken does well in his loan spell he could join the Blues permanently: "Jon is with us for three months and that gives us an opportunity to look at him.

"It's initial stages now but if he produces the goods for us there is a chance it could become a permanent deal.

"He is a player that I have admired since he was banging in the goals for Preston a few years back.

"He got a big move to Manchester City but things didn't work out for him there and Palace have not seen the best of him either.

"Injuries have hindered him in that time, but he comes to Portman Road raring to go and looking to snap up the opportunity we have given him.

"I've got great faith in him and he has the attributes to be a success here. He holds the ball up well and gets in the right positions and, if we can give him the service, he will score goals."

Magilton was a TV pundit last night as Northern Ireland defeated Spain 3-2 in Belfast. The Town boss, who prior to the game had expressed his admiration for eventual hat-trick hero David Healy, was hoarse by the end of the game.
