Jim: Defeats a Blessing - Ipswich Town News
Boss Jim Magilton says that Town losing their first three league games of the season was a "blessing in disguise". The Northern Irishman feels the poor start to the season gave him a crash course in management and taught him important lessons.
Magilton said: "I wouldn't like to go through it again, but it made sure that we did not paper over the cracks. It gave us a jolt and I had to re-assess how I spoke to players.
"I quickly learned that I had to be more considerate. As a player I knew when I had performed under par. I did not need anybody to tell me. It has been a steep learning curve and my coaching staff have been brilliant, giving every encouragement.
"Losing those three games on the bounce was perhaps a blessing in disguise. I have quickly learned that when things are going badly you must not get too disappointed, and when they are going well not to get too carried away."
