Town's bid for a Premiership player, widely thought to be Manchester United's youngster Mark Wilson, has been turned down. Neither Town nor United are confirming that the Blues' bid was for the 22-year-old.
Town manager George Burley said: "We have made an offer for Premiership player which has been turned down.
"Sometimes it is a case where the two clubs involved have a different valuation, other times it is because the club doesn't want to sell the player. In this case the club just doesn't want to sell the player."
No more news on Town's possible signing of Birmingham's Bryan Hughes, although it seems this may well be a deal which comes together in the near future.
With Town currently in Spain, David Sheepshanks in the US and Hughes possibly involved in the Worthington Cup final in a few weeks this may take longer than some sources were expecting.
Reports this morning claim that referee Jeff Winter came close to abandoning last week's Worthington Cup semi-final with Birmingham. The home fans repeatedly ran on the pitch and now face action from the FA.
Town skipper Matt Holland has commented on the incidents which occurred when Birmingham scored and at the end of the match. Holland said: "I was a bit worried at the end as we tried to get off the pitch. With so many people coming on at the end it was a bit intimidating. But as far as I'm aware none of our players were touched."
The FA could take several courses of action against Birmingham. The worst case scenario for them is expulsion from the Worthington Cup, although a fine is more likely.
