Jim Pleased With Workout - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton was pleased with his side's performance in the 2-2 friendly draw at Brechin City. The Northern Irishman used the game to take a look at some of the youngsters on the fringes of his squad.

Magilton told the club site: "It was a good exercise for us and one we needed.

"It was important to get a game under our belt after last week's defeat at Colchester and I was pleased with the lads.

"Brechin deserve credit for the way they played the game and it was certainly a good workout for us.

"It gave us a chance to see some of the younger lads in action, lads like Sammy Moore, Scott Barron and Martin Brittain.

"We have not played much reserve team football lately and it's important these players get some match experience. The three of them acquitted themselves very well and I was delighted with them.

"The lads will have a day off on Friday and we'll play some golf before returning at the weekend and starting to look ahead to West Brom.

"Taking the squad away for a couple of days acts as a bonding exercise as well. Providing different surroundings can freshen things up."

The reserves take on Southend at Portman Road on Monday evening (KO 7pm).
