Macken Out - Ipswich Town News

Striker Jon Macken will miss the games with Luton and Plymouth due to the hamstring injury he sustained at Southend on Saturday. A scan has shown that the loanee from Crystal Palace has only a minor strain.

Macken told the club site: "Obviously it's disappointing to miss a couple of games, but I'm relieved it's only a minor problem.

"I feared the worst initially, but hopefully it means being out for only 10 days or so. If the hamstring heals up OK, I could be back for the Burnley match next weekend."

Macken's absence is likely to see Billy Clarke start against Luton on Sunday, however, the 18-year-old is not yet considered strong enough to start two games in three days. This could lead to Danny Haynes, just back from his successful loan spell at Millwall, being recalled at Plymouth, unless Town secure another loan striker before then.

Town will also be without Mark Noble for the Luton game (suspension) and Lewis Price for the next three (broken rib).

Further to the previous report on Price, Andy Plummer has switched to the 37 shirt from 38.
