Mandaric Contact Denied - Ipswich Town News

Chief executive Derek Bowden has reiterated that there has been no contact between Town and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric. Bowden previously denied any contact between the parties when speaking to TWTD last month.

Reacting to newspaper reports this morning which claimed Mandaric had turned his attentions to Leicester City only after failing in a bid for the Blues, Bowden said: "We never spoke to him and we are not looking to sell. I don't know where the story came from."

In his interview with TWTD for issue 84 of the fanzine, Bowden said the club would speak to a potential investor like Mandaric if they were to come forward: "I think we would talk to him and I think we have a duty as directors of a PLC to talk to anybody who wants to invest seriously in the club.

"But we've gone down the route of being a community club and trying to have a broad-based share ownership and that would seem to fly in the face of that.

"Shareholders would need to be asked if we were to go down that path with an investor or small group of investors. We would expect those investors to invest more money into the club by diluting the existing shareholding and in order to do that we'd need to get shareholder approval, which we would do."

The full interview is available in the fanzine which can be purchased here.
