Dean Last Ditch - Ipswich Town News

Dean Bowditch came off the bench to score a last minute winner for Brighton as the Seagulls defeated Bradford 3-2 at Valley Parade. Bowditch was introduced in the 70th minute for his second sub appearances for his latest loan club.

Brighton boss Dean Wilkins praised the former England U19 for his attitude after being named amongst the substitutes: "Dean has showed great character. He was probably disappointed that he did not start.

"I spoke to him on Friday and said it was very difficult to make changes to a side that had scored three and four goals and looked solid.

"He showed a great attitude and that enabled him to produce the sort of quality he did. You make changes because you feel it will improve things. I just felt there were times when we broke out that we conceded possession too quickly.

"That is why I have stressed the importance when we are speaking about [Brighton striker] Jake [Robinson] of not getting too carried away, because everyone has ups and downs.

"I just felt Dean's quality in possession and coming a little bit deeper to pick the ball up would shine through in the last ten minutes and fortunately it did."

Meanwhile, Martin Brittain made his first Yeovil start as the Glovers defeated Bristol City 2-1 at Huish Park. The winger is on a month's loan with the Somerset club and had made his debut as a sub in midweek.

Midfielder Liam Trotter, on loan at Millwall for three months, was not in Willie Donachie's 16 as the Lions lost 3-1 at Tranmere.

Also in League One, former Blue Dean McDonald struck a stunning last minute winner for Gillingham as they defeated Chesterfield 2-1 at the Priestfield Stadium. McDonald has scored three goals in seven starts and six sub appearances since joining the Gills on a free transfer in the summer.

Town central defender Ian Miller made his league debut as his loan club Boston United drew 3-3 with Notts County at York Street. Miller, who joined the Blues from Bury Town earlier in the season, is with the Pilgrims for a month.
