Alright Jack? - Ipswich Town News

Reports today suggest that Town could be about to make £500,000 offer for Grimsby striker or midfield man Jack Lester. 23-year-old Lester, who either plays as an out an out striker or as an attacking midfielder, will be out of contract with the Mariners at the end fo the season and is refusing to sign an extension. Grimsby will want to get a fee of some sort for their starman and so may well be willing to part with the player at a reduced fee. However, Town may be up against several other clubs for his signature. Premiership sides Southampton and Wimbledon are both rumoured to be interested and Wolves expressed an interest just last week. Lester has scored four goals already this season adn has set up several more.

George Burley's target when watching Luton a couple of weeks back is rumoured to have been Matthew Spring. Spring is a 19 year old midfielder and given their financial hassles Luton may also be willing to part with the player for a low fee.

Town's reserve game with Colchester was called off this afternoon because of the torrential rain.
