U18s Draw at Millwall - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s came away from Millwall's Calmont Road training ground with a 2-2 draw on Saturday morning. Goals from Ian Nimmo and Kieran Leabon gave the Blues their point.

The home side took the lead early in the first half when a wide freekick was only half-cleared by the Town defence before the follow-up shot beat Andy Plummer in the Town goal.

Town were back on level terms towards the end of the first half when Millwall's keeper mis-hit a back pass straight to midfielder Ian Nimmo who composed himself before chipping the stranded keeper from 25 yards.

Three minutes after the break Town took the lead when Kieran Leabon found himself in acres of space on the right wing and smashed the ball across goal, where the keeper parried it into his own net.

But in the dying minutes, Millwall were awarded a freekick on the halfway line. The ball was hit into the Town area before Chris Casement appeared to be pushed and after a goalmouth scramble the ball was finally put into the Town net.

Town's U16 side, which included two 13-year-olds, suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of their London counterparts.

Town U18s: Plummer, Short, Webster, Fenn, Casement, Smith, Nimmo, Leabon, Rhodes, Ainsley (Reason) and Robinson (Tooms). Unused: C Williams.
