Wigan Recall Pollitt - Ipswich Town News

Wigan Athletic have recalled keeper Mike Pollitt from his loan at Portman Road. The Latics need the 34-year-old, who played his only Town game against Norwich on Sunday, as they are currently short of fit keepers.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site: "We're very disappointed to see Mike go.

"I know he enjoyed his time with us - albeit a very brief one - and if the opportunity comes up we would certainly welcome him back here.

"Wigan are now light on fit keepers though, and Paul Jewell rung me to apologise about taking Mike back, but I can understand his needs.

"It gives us a problem ahead of Saturday though, because none of our keepers are 100 per cent fit.

"Shane is coming back from a groin injury, Lewis Price has been out for a month with a rib injury and, although he's back training, he's not match fit.

"And we also have a problem with Jaro Drobný, who has been carrying a tight hamstring this week.

"We could certainly have done with Mike because we are looking to build on last week's display against Norwich and are coming into a busy period in the season, with games coming thick and fast, but we have to deal with it."

Town are unlikely to sign another keeper before the midnight tonight emergency loan deadline, however clubs can still bring in glovesmen on seven-day deals in exceptional circumstances.
