Town are unlikely to want to sell the 18-year-old and certainly not for a fee as low as is being claimed. Clarke, who has already been watched by Everton and other Premiership clubs, is contracted to the Blues until 2009.
Club chairman David Sheepshanks last week ruled out players leaving Town in January in order to raise cash: "It will be a case of players coming in, not going out and any sales will be strictly made for football reasons and not financial ones."
