Jim Targets Two or Three - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says he will add two or three players to his squad during the January transfer window. The Town manager is reported to have around £1 million to spend on adding to his options.

Magilton said: "I would like to bring in two, possibly three, more bodies if we can get the right ones who bring the right attitude to the team.

"I will need to assess the squad at the time because of the various players we have on loan as well as those who are out on loan at other clubs.”

A right-back and a striker look to be among Magilton's priorities, with Matthew Bates having recently come in on curtailed loan spell and the Town boss admitting interest in Rotherham frontman Will Hoskins earlier this week.

Magilton has also indicated that he might look towards signing an experienced keeper, while Finnish central defender Ari Nyman spent time on trial and is set to return for a second time in January. The former skipper has also said he would like Simon Walton and Mark Noble on second loan spells.

Town are expected to complete Gary Roberts's permanent switch from Accrington Stanley for around £200,000 on top of the £50,000 loan fee paid to secure his services from October to January. With the winger already at the club, it's likely that the two to three players Magilton is targeting are on top of the prospective Wales international.

Magilton's budget for new signings is not based on players leaving first, although it is likely that Darren Currie will join Coventry on a permanent basis. The Town manager may also seek to secure loan or permanent moves for out-of-favour players like Fabian Wilnis, Sito and Scott Barron.
