Axeldal Scouting for Town - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has revealed that former striker Jonas Axeldal is scouring Scandinavia for potential new signings. Magilton, who also reveals that ex-Norwich players are helping out the Blues, was talking to TWTD in an exclusive interview for issue 85 of the fanzine, which is out on Saturday.

Magilton said: "Scandinavia is a part of the world we can do more in and Jonas will make us aware of one or two players. We could have a lad coming over from Malmö, it's a case of watching this space.

"We also invited Steen Nedergaard, who used to play for Norwich, over a while back because he works for the Danish FA and had conversations with him, so there might be one or two that he gets too.

"He's a link we've forged through Steve Foley. Same with Bruce Rioch, who is manager of Odense in Denmark. We've picked his brains too. It's about networking, Romeo Zondervan's still doing stuff for us in Holland.”

Swede Axeldal was with the Blues for a year from August 1999 after leaving Italian side Foggia. Despite scoring for fun in the reserves, the frontman failed to find the net in one start and 20 sub appearances for the first team and joined Cambridge United prior to the start of the following season.

TWTD issue 85, which also includes an exclusive interview with Sir Bobby Robson, will be available from our sellers around Portman Road for two hours before kick-off on Saturday or via a subscription from www.twtdonline.co.uk, where you'll also find a scheme which will bring you TWTD for free.
