Town Unchanged? - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has a full squad from which to pick his side for Saturday's home game against Stoke City. Magilton could field the same team which defeated Leeds 1-0 at Portman Road last week.

Striker Billy Clarke is OK after his ankle injury, while midfielders Gavin Williams and Gary Roberts will be involved despite groin problems earlier in the week.

Lewis Price will continue in goal with Dan Harding on the left, Alex Bruce on the right and Jason De Vos and Richard Naylor in the centre. The midfield will again be made up of Roberts, Williams, Owen Garvan and Sylvain Legwinski.

Clarke is unlikely to return to the starting line-up despite his recovery, with Jon Macken again expected to partner Alan Lee.

Magilton told TWTD that he is still hopeful that his side can make a play-off push in the second half of his first season in charge: "We obviously need results. It's been a tough baptism but it's a daily challenge and you need to set goals which are achievable.

”I think we need a run of results. Everybody's of the same opinion in that in this division you can move rapidly. I think if you're in a position to strike around April, then you have a real chance.

"I want us to hit a run of form, then we have a realistic chance. If we can get something going, anything's possible.”

Stoke will be without skipper Michael Duberry, who is suspended, with Danny Higginbotham likely to take the armband in his absence.

Potters's director of football John Rudge says manager Tony Pulis is waiting on the fitness of Senegalese international midfielder Salif Diao, who has a leg injury: "Salif was not risked this week and has been undergoing treatment.

"We're giving him as much time as possible to prove his fitness ahead of Ipswich, as it is going to be another tough match."

Former Town loan striker Ricardo Fuller is available for selection despite newspaper reports earlier in the week suggesting that the Jamaican had reached five bookings. The ex-Southampton man is currently on four yellow cards.

The Potters had been in good form until last week's 3-0 defeat to Colchester at Layer Road and sit in seventh position in the table.

Town have had the protective tent on the newly-laid pitch this week due to the weather and concerns that the new surface might not have settled as had been hoped.

TWTD issue 85 will be on sale around the ground for two hours prior to kick-off. Manager Jim Magilton and legendary Town and England manager Sir Bobby Robson are the interview stars. Subscriptions (including a free offer) are available here.

Saturday's referee is Premiership official Uriah Rennie from Sheffield, who has shown 72 yellow and four red cards in 23 matches this season. Rennie's last Town game was the play-off semi-final first leg against West Ham at Upton Park in May 2005 which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Squad: Bruce, Casement, Clarke, De Vos, Garvan, Harding, Haynes, Lee, Legwinski, Macken, Naylor, Peters, Price, Richards, Roberts, Supple, Walton, Williams.
