Town Watching Bishop? - Ipswich Town News

Bury's Andy Bishop is the latest young striker reported to be interesting Town boss Jim Magilton. Bishop, 24, has scored 15 goals in 27 games for the Shakers this season since joining them from York City on a free transfer over the summer.

The six-foot-tall frontman started his career with Walsall's youth set-up but after two loan spells at Kidderminster, one at Rochdale and one at Yeovil, he moved into the Conference with York.

The Stone-born player netted 11 times in his first season with the Minstermen and last year topped the Conference goal charts with 23 goals, alerting the Shakers and a number of other lower league sides.

Bishop, who played alongside Gary Roberts for the England National Game XI (non-league England side) last season, is reported to have a clause in his contract which means his club must allow him to talk to interested parties willing to offer £200,000.

Boss Jim Magilton is keen to add to his strikers during the January transfer window and in recent months has been monitoring a number of young frontmen, including Rotherham's Will Hoskins, Cork City's Roy O'Donovan, Bohemians' Stephen Ward, Linfield's Peter Thompson and Falkirk's Alan Gow.
