Striker in This Week! - Ipswich Town News

George Burley has revealed that he is set to bring a top level striker in on loan this week. with Marcus Stewart suspended, Alun Armstrong with a back problem and Richard Naylor again suffering with a knee problem Town are in need of cover up front.

The Town manager said: "Myself, Colin Suggett, Simon Hunt, Tony Mowbray and Dale Roberts were all away covering matches yesterday."

No further clues to the identity of the players targeted, but I'm sure we'll hear several names bandied about before the right man gets named.

Naylor has had and injection for inflammation on his left knee.

Town have two players from Scarborough on trial. One of these is likely to be David Pounder a highly rated midfield player who Neil Thompson, the Scarborough manager has recommended to Town. Thompson's club are in financial trouble and need to sell to survive.

Town will not be making an immediate move for US trialist Cobi Jones, however the Blues will be keeping tabs on the ex-Coventry and Vasco Da Gama man.

George Burley said: "We'll keep an eye on the situation and perhaps have a chance to see Cobi in action next time he plays for the United States."

Marcus Stewart has commented on the decision not to overturn his sending off against Leeds.

The Town striker said: "If my tackle on Harte was a sending-off offence then there are a few lucky players in the Premiership. I've seen a lot worse with no sending off. I feel I warranted a booking and perhaps to be told to calm down."
