Town boss Jim Magilton says the Blues are waiting for two clubs to respond to player bids. The two offers are thought to be in addition to the bid for Cork City midfielder George O'Callaghan.
Magilton says he is not revealing the identities of the players involved and is optimistic that he will land his targets: "We feel we have made what we feel are reasonable offers for two different clubs and are now awaiting their response.”
Bury striker Andy Bishop and Port Vale frontman Leon Constantine are claimed to be the players involved, both among a host of strikers linked in recent weeks. Bishop at 20 is likely to cost the Blues £200,000 and seems a more likely prospect than 28-year-old Constantine. Last summer, Vale turned down a £250,000 offer from Barnsley for the former Southend man, who is out of contract in June.
Magilton has confirmed that Town have made what he describes as "a good offer” to Cork for O'Callaghan and are hopeful the Eircom League side will respond positively, perhaps in time for the 27-year-old to make his debut at Chester on Saturday. O'Callaghan is understood to have already agreed personal terms with the Blues.
Meanwhile, Alan Pardew has said that Charlton will listen to offers for striker Darren Bent. The Addicks are also reported to have turned down a £7 million bid from Tottenham for the England striker, although Spurs are denying the story.
Town will receive 20% of anything that Charlton make above the £2.6 million they have paid the Blues up to now for the frontman.
Elsewhere, Coventry are reported to be unwilling to pay Town £70,000 for Darren Currie. Talks are likely to continue with the midfielder keen to make a permanent move to the Ricoh Arena.
Talks are also continuing with Crystal Palace regarding Jon Macken's future. The former Manchester City man's high wage is the main stumbling block currently holding up the move. Macken has 18 months remaining on his Palace deal.
