Jewell on Wright Move - Ipswich Town News

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell has wished David Wright well in his career with the Blues. Wright is expected to put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal this afternoon.

Jewell said: "He's out of contract in the summer and could leave on a free, so it makes sense to recoup at this stage.

"Wrighty is a terrific pro who has worked really hard to get his chance with us after a long period on the sidelines. He's never moaned and has always tried his best for me, which as a manager is all you can ask for.

"Ironically, he's had his longest spell in the team for a while in recent weeks, and had done well, proving to himself that he can perform at the highest level.

"However, I owe it to him to give him the chance of permanent first team football, which hopefully he will get at Ipswich. Naturally, he goes with the best wishes of everyone at Wigan Athletic."

Town are understood to have paid £200,000 for the ex-Crewe player.
