No Adebola Interest - Ipswich Town News

Coventry City boss Micky Adams says he has received no contact from Town regarding striker Dele Adebola. Town had been reported to have renewed their interest in the former Crewe forward but Adams, who is keen to land Town midfielder Darren Currie, says he has had no enquiries.

Adams said: "I haven't had any calls from anyone about Dele. There was talk of a swap deal originally when we first tried to get Darren earlier in the season. But would we be interested in a swap deal? I am not sure that we would."

With his fee still to be negotiated - Town want £70,000 - Currie is expected to be included in the squad flying to Sunderland later today for Saturday's Championship clash, along with Town's new number 20 David Wright, who is expected to make his debut.

Elsewhere, Wolves have signed Bohemians striker Stephen Ward for a fee which could eventually rise to £230,000. The Blues had watched Ward on a regular basis during the Irish season.

Another Town target, Sheffield United's Steve Kabba, is understood to have turned down a £500,000 move to Molineux earlier in the transfer window. The former Palace man is keen to move closer to his family in London.

Charlton now say they will not sell Darren Bent during January as the former Town striker is recovering quickly from his knee injury. Town look unlikely to receive a windfall from their 20%-of-profit sell-on clause during this transfer window unless the Addicks receive a huge offer they wouldn't be able to refuse.

Meanwhile, in South Africa, one-time Blues loanee Mark Fish has announced his intention to return to football. However, Town fans need not worry, the 32-year-old central defender is set to join the Orlando Pirates in his home country having decided he announced his retirement too early.

The former Lazio, Bolton and Charlton man gave up the game after a disastrous one-game loan spell with the Blues 15 months ago.
