George Delighted - Ipswich Town News

New signing George O'Callaghan says he's thrilled to have finally made his move to the Blues. The former Cork City man has been on trial at Playford Road since September.

O'Callaghan told the club site: "From the first moment I came here, I was knocked back by the place.

"The club itself, the training ground, the coaching, the lads, it's all fantastic and I knew this was the club for me.

"I had other clubs after me - Sunderland, Hull, Slavia Prague, Hibs and Dunfermline were all interested - but once I knew that Ipswich wanted me, that was it. I told them all not to bother.

"I know it has taken a while to sort out but I'm absolutely thrilled to be an Ipswich Town player now. I've aged a few years waiting and hoping that everything was going to go through OK and I think Alan Lee is just as pleased as I am that it's all been completed.

"I have been staying with him and I've been driving him nuts about the move, wishing it to happen."

The ex-Port Vale player, Town's new number 21 shirt, has signed an 18-month deal and is likely to go straight into the squad for Saturday's home game with Colchester United.
