Gavin Interest No Shock - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says it is no surprise that clubs are reported to be interested in midfielder Gavin Williams. Over the weekend, Welsh tabloids linked both Cardiff and Swansea with moves for the 26-year-old.

The Town manager says the former West Ham and Yeovil man will not be sold - unless the Blues receive a very large offer: "I'm not surprised there is said to be interest in Gavin but he's going nowhere.

"Every transfer window throws up speculation over player movement and this January is no different.

"Gavin is one of our best players and is bound to attract interest, but I've not brought in players of the ability of David Wright, Alex Bruce, Dan Harding, Gary Roberts and George O'Callaghan to let our best players go.

"I'm a realist though, and in today's football market every player has his price. There are very few clubs in this country that won't consider selling a player if the price is right.

"So, I can't say Gavin will never be sold, but it will take an awful lot of money to prise him away from this football club."

Williams, who is contracted to Town until 2009, joined the Blues for £300,000 last January after a two-month loan spell.
