Reserves 2-0 Stevenage - Ipswich Town News

Woodbridge Town striker Joe Francis did his hopes of winning a Town contract no harm with a goal and a fine performance as the Blues second string defeated Stevenage Borough 2-0 at Portman Road. Jordan Rhodes scored the other goal in a game that Town should have won more convincingly.

Rhodes put the Blues in front in the first half, but was amongst a number of players to miss chances throughout the game.

Francis, who also scored in last week's behind-closed-doors match against Millwall, added the second from close range after the break. The 20-year-old Woodbridge Town striker was watched by his current manager Mick Stockwell, sat alongside Jim Magilton.

Town had much the better of the game against an attractive Stevenage side. Scott Barron, presumably looking to impress watching scouts, was the Blues' standout player both defensively and when coming forward.

Martin Brittain was also among the more prominent performers in a generally good display from Richard Hall's men. New signing George O'Callaghan put in a relatively quiet shift, switching between attack and midfield with Joe Francis.

Reserves: Supple, Casement, Barron, Synnott, Collins, Reason (Upson 47), Brittain, Trotter, O'Callaghan (Leabon 75), Rhodes, Francis (Fenn 82). Unused: Smith, Short.
