Jim Impressed With Joe - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says he will continue to keep an eye on Woodbridge Town striker Joe Francis, who scored another goal for the reserves last night. TWTD was first to report that the 20-year-old's initial trial with the Blues in the week running up to Christmas.

Magilton is taking another look at the frontman, who was told he wasn't quick enough by Norwich City as a 13-year-old, with the trainee plasterer scoring in the behind-closed-doors reserves friendly with Millwall a week ago and again last night.

The Town manager said after the 2-0 victory over Stevenage Borough: "Joe took his goal well and had a good game. We will continue to look at him.”

Town's continued interest suggests the offer of a short-term deal could be close, but Francis says he is taking nothing for granted: "I am chuffed to have this opportunity, and if I do not make it I shall at least go back to Woodbridge a much better player.”

In order to be eligible for last night's game, the Blues had to take the frontman on loan, but Francis is expected to be in action for his current club at home to Cambridge Regional College in the Ridgeons League on Saturday.

The Woodpeckers are believed to want £10,000 for their star striker.
