New Reserves League? - Ipswich Town News

Chairman David Sheepshanks says he hopes that Championship clubs will have a new reserve league in place in time for next season.

The Blues and other Football League clubs were excluded from the two FA Premier Reserve Leagues last April and Town now play in the Pontin's Holidays Combination League Eastern Division.

This season has seen long gaps between games, sometimes against poor quality opposition; Conference side Oxford United's second string were hammered 9-0 by a young Town side back in September.

The Blues currently sit 10 points clear of Colchester United at the top of the table and have dropped just three points having lost only one match.

Sheepshanks says he is hopeful a more competitive league can be put together for next season: "We are trying to get over the difficulties and form a Championship reserve league for 2007/08.”
