Chester on Walters Fee - Ipswich Town News

Chester City have revealed that Town will pay an initial fee of £100,000 for striker Jon Walters, who is expected to make his debut at Stoke City this evening. Chairman Stephen Vaughan has sought to clarify the situation with various prices having been quoted since his move, Town having announced the fee as "undisclosed".

Vaughan said: "I wouldn't normally comment on specific transfer fees, but some of the figures bandied about have been way off.

"We will receive £100,000 from Ipswich in the next seven days, it could rise to around £200,000, but the harsh reality is it is performance related, and depends on not only the player, but Ipswich Town achieving certain targets."

Meanwhile, midfielder Martin Brittain is reported to be on his way back to Yeovil on loan after failing to win a place in the Town side since returning from his previous spell at Huish Park.

Manager Jim Magilton has admitted he is interested in re-signing Simon Walton on loan, although denies that any approach has so far been made. Walton himself gave strong hints that his return is very much on the cards, while Charlton are understood to have made him available for another short-term spell.

Midfielder Sammy Moore's loan move to Falkirk has been delayed by a bout of flu.

Town keeper Shane Supple has been tipped for his first call into the full Republic of Ireland squad later today. First choice Shay Given is injured, while Sheffield United's Paddy Kenny has made himself unavailable for personal reasons. Striker Alan Lee is also likely to be named in the squad for next week's Euro 2008 clash in San Marino.
