Walton: Town Wanted Me - Ipswich Town News
Former loanee Simon Walton has confirmed that Town enquired about securing his services from Charlton for the second half of the season. The former Leeds man joined Cardiff City instead, making his debut in Friday's 2-0 victory over Barnsley.
Walton says he could ultimately decide to move to the Bluebirds on a permanent basis: "I am excited by coming to Cardiff because I believe it's a big club going in the right direction.
"I had the chance of going to a few other clubs - Ipswich wanted me back after I'd been on loan there earlier in the season - but if things work out well here, I would certainly be looking to stay."
Walton, who joined Charlton from Leeds for £500,000 in the summer, made 19 appearances in his spell with the Blues, scoring three goals.
