Reserves at Southend - Ipswich Town News

Released academy defender Luke Webster will be in action against his old team-mates today when Town's second string travel to Southend (Roots Hall, KO 2pm). Last month TWTD reported that Webster would not be offered a professional contract by the Blues.

The 18-year-old is now with the Shrimpers trying to win himself a deal with Steve Tilson's club. Former Canary Spencer Prior is also in the Southend squad.

Town have named Shane Supple, George O'Callaghan, Darren Currie, Sito and Matt Richards in their side for a game which was originally scheduled for tomorrow.

The Blues plan to use O'Callaghan up front, perhaps a hint that the Irishman may be used in attack for the first team due during Alan Lee's impending absence through suspension. The former Cork City player has a good chance of leading the frontline at Watford in the FA Cup with Jon Walters unavailable through suspension.

Darren Currie will be looking to impress any watching scouts ahead of the emergency transfer window opening on Wednesday. Scott Barron will also be looking for a loan move, having failed to feature at first team level this season.

Reserves: Shane Supple, Sito, Scott Barron, Edward Upson, Michael Synnott, Tommy Smith, Darren Currie, Liam Trotter, George O'Callaghan, Jordan Rhodes, Matt Richards. Subs: Jai Reason, Andrew Plummer, Ollie Fenn, Russell Short, Kurt Robinson.
