Town legend Terry Butcher has been sacked by Australian A-League side Sydney FC. On Friday last year's champions were knocked out of this season's finals series in the first round.
A club statement announced that Butcher and Sydney were parting company: "Sydney FC today confirmed that the contractual arrangement with Terry Butcher as head coach of the club has come to an end.
"The parties and their lawyers have had discussions. No further statements or comments will be issued or made at this stage."
Butcher, who moved to Sydney from SPL side Motherwell nine months ago, had a year remaining on his contract.
