Stand-in skipper Richard Naylor has undergone a scan on his toe injury and is considered a doubt for Saturday's FA Cup trip to Watford. If fit, Town's longest-serving player might be required to play in his old striking role at Vicarage Road, with Alan Lee suspended and Jon Walters cup-tied.
The Blues' head of sports science Dave Williams told the club site: "Bam Bam has been making slow progress so we've had to send him for a scan.
"We will have the results on Wednesday and we'll go from there, but certainly at the moment he is a doubt for the weekend."
If Naylor doesn't make it, another option open to boss Jim Magilton is giving George O'Callaghan a start up front. Although primarily a midfielder, the former Cork City player started his career at Port Vale as a striker.
