Currie on US Trial - Ipswich Town News

US-bound Darren Currie says he is looking forward to his two-week trial with MLS side the LA Galaxy. the midfielder will be looking to win himself a place alongside David Beckham in Frank Yallop's squad for the season ahead.

Currie told the club site: "It's an exciting opportunity for me and I'm really looking forward to it.

"This season has been a difficult one for me because for long periods I have not been playing and any footballer will tell you that it's all about being out on the pitch.

"Jim has been great to me though, and said he wouldn't stand in my way if I wanted to go over to Los Angeles and see what's going on.

"It's a two-week trial, no more than that at this stage and I will see how things develop from there. I've had a great time at Ipswich, met some fantastic people but, with my contract up in the summer, it looks like I will be moving on.

"I have always thought about the possibility of playing abroad and this is a great opportunity for me to see how football works somewhere else."

Currie has made 69 starts and 20 sub appearances for the Blues since signing from Brighton for ÂŁ250,000 in December 2004 and has scored nine goals.
