Town boss Jim Magilton was delighted and relieved that his side finally grabbed a win and some goals against QPR. Rangers boss John Gregory felt his side ought to have been awarded an injury time penalty.
Magilton said: "Of course it's a relief, but I was confident going into the game because we have trained well all week. The players were desperate for a result.
"Rangers started brightly but then we gained a bit of composure and added a bit of quality to our play.
"I was delighted for Jon Walters. He deserved his goal and took it very well. He is a workaholic in training and his work rate on the field is fantastic. He has a certain pedigree that his education in the game has given him.
"This was a case of keeping things simple. Confidence comes and goes, but you must always maintain a belief in yourself. We've won a game of football and now we must crack on."
New Town loanee Franny Jeffers, who made his debut as a 70th minute sub, says his one-month spell could be extended: "It was great to be back playing football again and obviously good to see the team get the right result.
"I think Ipswich wanted me until the end of the season but Mark Hughes wasn't too keen on that, so I've come here for a month and we'll see how it goes.
"But if it goes well for me here, and Blackburn and Ipswich are happy, then I wouldn't see a problem with me staying until the end of the season."
Jon Walters was delighted to score his first Town goal: "It feels fantastic to have scored my first goal for the club and I hope it's the first of many.
"I thought I'd scored in the first half but the keeper pulled off a good save and then Alan scored just after.
"I actually think that we played better in some of the games that we have lost recently, but in patches we were excellent.
"Once we got the first goal we felt a little more settled, you can tense up a little when you haven't scored for some time.”
QPR manager John Gregory questioned the attitude of some of his team: "We have played our last two matches with loads of passion, pride and enthusiasm, but this time it was sadly lacking from one or two of our players.
"I am not too sure if some of them really appreciate the consequences of our situation. The opportunity for us was there to jump out of the bottom three. This was a game I though we had every chance to win.”
Gregory was convinced Paul Furlong should have been given a late spotkick when he clashed with David Wright: "Paul Furlong was pulled back but I won't be speaking to the referee. It would be a waste of time.
"To be honest it was a bad day for us. We started well but didn't make use of our advantage in the opening 20 minutes.
"Had we been level with half an hour left there would have been only one winner. We are a very fit team that keeps going, but we had conceded a couple of goals."
Magilton conceded that Gregory might have had a point regarding the penalty incident: "Rangers can feel a bit aggrieved, but when you are down things tend to go against you."
