Walters a Worry for Town - Ipswich Town News

Striker Jon Walters is a doubt ahead of Town's visit to his former club Hull City on Tuesday evening (KO 7.45pm). Walters has a hamstring problem but will be assessed before the squad leaves for East Yorkshire.

Walters was with Hull between February 2004 and July 2005 having previously been on loan at the KC Stadium in 2003. In his first spell he scored five goals in 11 games, but was less successful as a full-time Tiger, netting three times in 11 starts and 33 appearances from the bench.

If Walters fails to make it, loanee Franny Jeffers could be handed his first Town start alongside Alan Lee, who will be playing his 50th game for the Blues. Otherwise, boss Jim Magilton will probably continue with the same side which defeated QPR 2-1 on Saturday.

The back four of Dan Harding, Jason De Vos, Alex Bruce and David Wright will once again be employed ahead of Lewis Price in goal.

In midfield, Owen Garvan and Sylvain Legwinski will be in the centre with Jaime Peters on the right and Gary Roberts on the left.

Fabian Wilnis and Richard Naylor are expected to play for the reserves in the semi-final of the Club Colours Suffolk Premier Cup at Ipswich Wanderers on Wednesday after overcoming hamstring and toe injuries respectively. Gavin Williams is continuing his comeback from a pelvic injury but is not expected to face the Wanderers.

Hull boss Phil Brown may be able to recall former England midfielder Nick Barmby after an ankle ligament injury. The ex-Spurs and Middlesbrough man is in the squad but the Town game may come too soon for him.

The Tigers will be without the suspended Michael Bridges, but full-back Andy Dawson is back after missing the last two matches. Sam Collins (knee) and Stephen McPhee (hamstring) are long-term absentees.

Former Blue Nicky Forster has been in new boss Brown's starting line-up of late and has scored three goals in 16 starts and 10 substitute appearances since leaving Town for £250,000 in August. Also in the Hull side are former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour and ex-Bradford man Dean Windass.

If Town fail to score, they will take their new away blank record to eight games in all competitions, while a new club record of six league matches without a goal will also be set. Previously, the Blues drew five successive league blanks in 1949/50, 1950/51, 1952/53, 1970/71 and 1994/95.

Last season, Town lost 2-0 in their first ever game at the KC Stadium. Back in August, the sides drew 0-0 at Portman Road.

Tuesday's referee is Graham Salisbury from Lancashire who has shown 52 yellow and four red cards in 24 games so far this season. Salisbury's last Town game was the November 2005 1-1 draw at Coventry.

Squad: Bruce, Clarke, De Vos, Garvan, Harding, Haynes, Jeffers, Lee, Legwinski, O'Callaghan, Peters, Price, Richards, Roberts, Sito, Supple, Walters, Wright.
