Today's Links - Ipswich Town News

With transfer deadline day on March 22nd Town seem to be linked with more players than ever. Today sees one new name and one that is becoming familiar.

Polish left midfielder Piotr Swierczewski is the new name while Falkirk's Mark Kerr again crops up. The Pole is a 28-year-old who has played for his country 60 times. He plays in France for Bastia and is available on a Bosman at the end of the season. He will be playing for his national side this evening in their away match with Cyprus.

Swierczewski, who holds a French passport, is also thought to be a target of Celtic and Tottenham.

Kerr has been linked with Town for some while now. Earlier in the month his manager Alex Totten revealed that Town had tried to take the player on trial. George Burley admitted this and said that although they rated the player they weren't sure of his abilities given the level of football he is playing at present.

Apparently Celtic, Rangers, Leeds United and West Ham are alson interested in the 18-year-old midfielder.

Meanwhile George Burley is rumoured to be on his way to the France-Germany match this evening, but no specific target has been named.

Richard Logan has returned from his loan spell at Cambridge. The young striker impressed at the Abbey Stadium, but with Marcus Stewart suspended and Richard Naylor injured Town feel they need cover.

He is expected to play in the reserves game against Wimbledon at Sutton United's ground tomorrow.

George Burley has said he will continue to monitor the progress of the two Scarborough players who came on trial last week. Former Topwn star Neil Thompson sent David Pounder and Ashley Lyth to Town for evaluation. Scarborough need cash and everyone is up for sale.

Burley said: "Both lads did well and showed potential. I will be keeping an eye on their progress."

Pounder scored at the weekend against Dover Athletic.
