Four With Squads - Ipswich Town News

Town will have four players away with their national squads during the break for international fixtures. Billy Clarke is with the Republic of Ireland U21s, Jaime Peters with Canada's U20, Danny Haynes with England's U19s and Tommy Smith is away with England's U17s.

Peters has already joined up with the Canada squad for two friendlies with Scotland they will use as preparation for this summer's FIFA U20 World Cup which they are hosting. The Town winger has been named one of six ambassadors for the tournament taking place in June and July.

The Canadians face the Scots for the first time on Saturday, March 24th at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby and then again on Tuesday, March 27th at the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria. Peters has already won 22 Canadian U20 caps in addition to his 12 full appearances.

Clarke is in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad for a friendly with Holland in Venlo on Tuesday, 27th March. Clarke won his first U21 cap in last month's game against Slovakia at the Madeira tournament.

Haynes is in the England U19 squad for a friendly against Turkey at Doncaster Rovers' new Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday.

The Town striker won his first international cap at any level in February as the U19s defeated Poland 4-1 at Bournemouth. The Turkey game is the final friendly before UEFA U19 European Championship qualifiers in May.

Academy defender Smith in the England squad for UEFA European U17 Championship elite qualifying round games with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Azerbaijan. Smith won his first three caps for the U17s at last month's Algarve Tournament.

The qualifying round matches are being played in Bosnia with England facing the hosts on Friday, 23rd March, Azerbaijan two days later and Serbia on the following Wednesday.

Regular call-ups Alan Lee and Lewis Price were left out of the full Republic of Ireland and Wales squads.
