Fab Wants New Deal - Ipswich Town News

Veteran defender Fabian Wilnis says he expects to discover in April whether he will be offered a new deal by the Blues. The Dutchman, whose current one-year deal is up in June, says whatever happens he will continue playing.

Wilnis, 36, told the club site that he has been offered his previous one-year contracts in April: "It's been like that for the last three or four years and each time the manager has approached me in April.

"I would think it will be the same this year when the manager starts to look at next season.

"I will certainly be looking to carry on playing, whether that be here or somewhere else. I feel very fresh and want to play as long as possible.

"If I was struggling to cope at this level then I would have no hesitation in calling it a day, but that's not the case. The hunger is still there, I feel just as excited about playing now as I did when I was 18.

"I still want to push myself on the pitch and feel that I can do a job and I think that has shown on the pitch when I have played this season."

Earlier in the season, the former De Graafschap man was made available for loan with Luton Town, Millwall, Huddersfield Town, Port Vale and Bristol City all showing an interest before an injury to Jason De Vos meant he was required at Portman Road.
