Peters Wins U20s Cap - Ipswich Town News

Jaime Peters won his 23rd Canada U20 cap as his side defeated Scotland 3-1 in a friendly at the Percy Perry Stadium, Coquitlam on Saturday. Peters impressed and was named “Sportsman of the Match” by sponsors Hyundai.

Unusually, the game was played on artificial FieldTurf, having been moved from its original venue of the Swangard Stadium in Burnaby due to a waterlogged grass pitch.

Canada play the Scots in another friendly on Tuesday at the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.

Elsewhere, academy defender Tommy Smith was an unused sub as the England U17s beat Azerbaijan 1-0 in their second European Championship elite qualifying round game.

Smith won his fourth cap in Friday's 5-0 win over hosts Bosnia and is likely to win his fifth on Tuesday when his side faces Serbia. Only a win will see England through to the tournament proper as, like England, the Serbs have won both their previous fixtures but have a superior goal difference.
