Deal for Synnott - Ipswich Town News
Boss Jim Magilton has revealed that young defender Michael Synnott will be offered a one-year contract. The Irishman's extended academy scholarship is up at the end of the season.
Magilton says the year will give the Blues the chance to further assess the 20-year-old, who has had an injury disrupted couple of seasons: "He needs an injury—free season where we could get him out on loan after a good pre-season. That would give us an opportunity to see him step up.”
Synnott, 5ft 7in tall, has generally been regarded as a full-back in his time with the Blues, but Magilton has tried the Republic of Ireland U21 international in a central defensive role in the reserves this season, despite his lack of height.
